Dublin, Ireland is the ideal destination for anyone wanting to celebrate Halloween. Ireland is Halloween’s historic birthplace, and there is no better place to enjoy the celebrations!

As well taking one or more of our three acclaimed Dublin ghost tours, you will find that the city has lots to see and do for Halloween. Top of the list has to be a trip to Temple Bar on Halloween night – October 31st. Dublin’s cultural quarter is the place to be. If you really want to have a good time, dressing up is compulsory! You will encounter thousands of adults in costumes ranging from Dracula and The Wolfman to Freddy Krueger and Hannibal Lecter, partying the night away on the city streets. Children are welcome too, and the event is well-policed to ensure the safety of all. Many of the bars in Dublin will have Halloween parties and drink specials also!

For the children, there is a Halloween parade through the streets of Dublin, earlier in the evening, as well as a number of special events around the city. Additionally, South Dublin County Council holds Hallowfest – a kid-friendly programme of events that runs throughout the month of October. If you should choose to hire a car, you will also find a number of exciting Halloween events in County Meath, just north of Dublin, as well as the Virginia pumpkin festival in County Cavan.

And for movie buffs, Dublin’s IFI cinema holds a three-day festival of classic and new horror movies.
